Steps to Creating Podcasts with Audacity
1)Pick a topic and write up a script. ·It takes about 3 class periods to generate 60-90 seconds of quality podcasting. ·Students should rehearse several times and make any necessary edits before attempting to record.
2)Record the Podcast ·Using either a portable mp3 recorder or Audacity, have students record their work. ·Two students should be involved in the recording process, a reader and a technician who pushes all the buttons. ·Silence is not necessary but it should be quiet or background noise will ruin the recording
3)Edit the Podcast and Add Music or Special Effects ·Use Audacity to listen to the podcast and make any adjustments ·The envelope tool can adjust volume ·Use additional tracks to add music and special effects or splice several students recordings together. ·Once satisfied save the project.
4)Export the Podcast as an mp3 and Post to the web ·Select File and Export then save the podcast in the mp3 format. ·Upload the podcast to the Internet for everyone to enjoy!
